Ziza

Ziza was a son of Shiphi in the tribe of Simeon during Israel's monarchy. He is mentioned as a leader among the Simeonites in the time of King Hezekiah.

Overview

Ziza appears in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles as a descendant of Simeon. He was the son of Shiphi and is noted as a chief among his people during the reign of King Hezekiah, when the Simeonites expanded their territory and sought pasture for their flocks.

Key Scriptures

"Ziza, the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah" (1 Chronicles 4:37, ESV).

"And from his wives he fathered Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham. After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith" (2 Chronicles 11:20, ESV).

Application

Though Ziza's role was minor in Israel's history, his inclusion in Scripture reminds us that God records the names and deeds of faithful leaders, encouraging us to serve faithfully in whatever position God has given us.
