Zina

Zina was a Levite in ancient Israel, son of Shimei, who served in the tabernacle during King David's reign. He is mentioned in the genealogical records of the Levitical families.

Overview

Zina was a descendant of Levi and belonged to the family of Shimei. During the reorganization of Levitical duties under King David, Zina was assigned responsibilities in the service of the tabernacle as part of the temple worship structure. The biblical record preserves his name as part of the official genealogy and organizational records of Israel's spiritual leadership.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Shimei were Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei." (1 Chronicles 23:10, ESV)

"And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they became counted as a single family, one division." (1 Chronicles 23:11, ESV)

Application

Zina's inclusion in the Levitical records reminds us that faithful service in God's house, though sometimes obscure and unheralded, is part of the ongoing testimony of God's people and His covenant faithfulness across generations.
