Zemaraim

Zemaraim was a city in the territory of Benjamin, notable as the location where King Abijah of Judah addressed his forces before battle against Jeroboam of Israel.

Overview

Zemaraim was a city located within the tribal allotment of Benjamin in ancient Israel. It gained biblical significance as the site where King Abijah of Judah made a passionate address to his army, calling them to trust in the Lord and the Levitical priesthood before engaging in conflict with the northern kingdom of Israel under King Jeroboam I.

Key Scriptures

"And the second lot came out for Benjamin, according to their families: and the border of their lot came out between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph... And Zemaraim, and Beth-el" (Joshua 18:22, KJV).

"And Abijah stood up upon the mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel" (2 Chronicles 13:4, KJV).

Application

Like Abijah's courageous stand at Zemaraim, believers today should boldly declare their faith and trust in God's sovereignty when facing opposition to biblical truth.
