Overview
Pelatiah appears in Ezekiel's vision as one of the princes of Jerusalem who gave wicked counsel to the people. Along with Jaazaniah, he represented the leadership that trusted in their own devices rather than seeking God's will. His name means "God delivers," yet he embodied spiritual rebellion during Israel's exile.
Key Scriptures
"Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound as the glory of the LORD rose from its place" (Ezekiel 11:24, NIV). "As I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died" (Ezekiel 11:13, NIV). "Then the word of the LORD came to me: 'Son of man, your relatives and all your fellow exiles and the whole house of Israel—the people of Jerusalem have said, They are far away from the LORD; this land was given to us as our possession'" (Ezekiel 11:14-15, NIV).
Application
Believers must guard against false confidence in human counsel and instead continually seek God's wisdom through His Word.
