Paradise

Paradise is the dwelling place of God and the eternal home of believers, representing the ultimate restoration of creation and communion with the Lord. It is both a present reality for those who die in Christ and the future inheritance of the redeemed.

Overview

Paradise refers to God's perfect garden dwelling and, ultimately, heaven itself—the place of eternal fellowship with God. In Scripture, paradise encompasses both the intermediate state where believers await resurrection and the final, renewed creation where God will dwell with His people forever. It represents the restoration of what was lost in Eden and the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan.

Key Scriptures

"And he said to him, 'Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.'" (Luke 23:43, ESV) - Jesus promises the thief on the cross immediate entry into paradise.

And I know that such a person—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows—was caught up into paradise and heard things that are not permitted to tell" (2 Corinthians 12:2-4, NRSV).

"Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To everyone who conquers, I will give permission to eat from the tree of life that is in the paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7, NRSV)
