Nedabiah

Nedabiah was a son of King Jehoiachin of Judah, listed among the royal descendants during the Babylonian exile. Though little is known of his individual life, he represents the continuity of David's line through a period of national judgment.

Overview

Nedabiah appears in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles 3 as one of the sons born to Jehoiachin during the Babylonian captivity. His name means "Yahweh is willing" or "voluntary gift of the Lord." Though he lived during Israel's exile, his existence demonstrates God's faithfulness in preserving the Davidic line even through judgment.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Jehoiachin: Assir, Shealtiel his son, Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jekamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah." (1 Chronicles 3:17-18, ESV)

"So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations." (Matthew 1:17, ESV)

Application

Nedabiah's inclusion in Scripture reminds believers that God's promises remain secure regardless of earthly circumstances, and He preserves His purposes through generations.
