Jahzerah

Jahzerah was a Levite musician and gatekeeper in the Second Temple period who served in the worship of God's house. His name appears in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles as part of the priestly lineage dedicated to temple service.

Overview

Jahzerah is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 9:12 as a son of Pashhur and a priest who dwelt in Jerusalem after the exile. He represents the faithful remnant of Levites who returned to rebuild temple worship and maintain God's house according to His prescribed order.

Key Scriptures

"And Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Jahzerah the son of Ahimoth, and Maasiai the son of Adiel" (1 Chronicles 9:12, ESV).

"These were the heads of the fathers' houses of the priests and the Levites, according to their fathers' houses" (1 Chronicles 9:13, ESV).

Application

Like Jahzerah, believers today should faithfully serve Christ in their local church, maintaining biblical worship and accountability to God's Word as central to community life.
