Nain

Nain was a small town in Galilee where Jesus demonstrated His power over death by raising a widow's son. This miracle revealed Jesus's compassion and His authority as the Son of God.

Overview

Nain was a village in the region of Galilee, located on the northern slope of the Hill of Moreh. It is known primarily as the site where Jesus performed one of His most remarkable miracles—raising a widow's son from the dead. This event demonstrated both Christ's divine authority and His deep compassion for the suffering.

Key Scriptures

"Soon afterward he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large crowd from the town was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, 'Do not weep.' Then he came up and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. And he said, 'Young man, I say to you, arise.' And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother." (Luke 7:11-15, ESV)

Application

Jesus's miracle at Nain assures us that He cares deeply for our sorrows and has complete authority over even death itself.
