Mirror

A mirror reflects physical reality and serves as a biblical metaphor for self-examination and spiritual transformation through God's Word and character.

Overview

Scripture uses mirrors both literally and symbolically. Physically, mirrors were made of polished brass or bronze (Exodus 38:8). Spiritually, mirrors represent how God's Word reflects our true spiritual condition and how encountering God's character transforms us into His likeness.

Key Scriptures

"For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he looks like" (James 1:23-24, ESV).

"For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face" (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV).

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV).

Application

Regularly examine your life against God's Word to identify areas needing change, trusting that continued reflection on Christ's character produces genuine spiritual transformation.
