Milcah

Milcah was the daughter of Haran and mother of Bethuel in Abraham's family line, playing a significant role in connecting Abraham's household across generations. She is also known as the mother of Rebekah, who became Isaac's wife.

Overview

Milcah appears in Genesis as a key female figure in Abraham's genealogy. She was the daughter of Haran (Abraham's brother) and became the wife of Nahor, Abraham's other brother. Through her son Bethuel, she was the grandmother of Rebekah, who married Isaac and continued the covenant line. The name Milcah means "queen" or "counsel."

Key Scriptures

"Milcah also bore children to Nahor, Abraham's brother: Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram" (Genesis 22:23, ESV).

"And Laban said, 'This is from the LORD; we can say nothing bad or good to you. Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master's son, as the LORD has spoken'" (Genesis 24:50-51, ESV). Rebekah was Milcah's granddaughter through Bethuel.
