Overview
Milalai was among the Levites appointed to serve as musicians during the celebration of Jerusalem's restored walls in the fifth century BC. He is mentioned only once in Scripture as part of the choir that praised God during this significant national and spiritual event, reflecting the importance of worship in Israel's restoration.
Key Scriptures
"And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off." (Nehemiah 12:42-43, KJV)
"And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, which was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren" (Nehemiah 12:8, KJV)
Application
Milalai's participation reminds us that all vocations, including music and worship leadership, serve God's purposes in building His kingdom and leading others to celebrate His faithfulness.
