Litter

Litter and environmental stewardship reflect our biblical responsibility to care for God's creation as His image-bearers.

Overview

The Bible establishes that God placed humans in creation with a mandate to tend and keep it. Our treatment of the physical world, including not littering, flows from recognizing God's ownership and our role as stewards accountable to Him for how we use what He has given.

Key Scriptures

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it" (Genesis 2:15, ESV). "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV). "The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel" (Proverbs 12:10, NIV)—extending to how we treat the environment entrusted to us.

Application

Dispose of litter properly as an act of stewardship, honoring God's creation and demonstrating Christ's character in how you treat even small things.
