The return of Christ (often called the Second Coming or Parousia) is His promised future arrival to judge the living and the dead, establish His kingdom, and complete redemption. This foundational Christian hope motivates holy living and faithful witness today.

Overview

Jesus explicitly promised His disciples that He would return to earth (John 14:1-3). This return will be visible, personal, and glorious, occurring at a time known only to God the Father. All Christians await this hope as the culmination of God's redemptive plan and the final victory over sin and death.

Key Scriptures

"Jesus said, 'I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown'" (Revelation 3:11, NIV).

"'Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven'" (Acts 1:11, NIV).

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV).

Application

Live in readiness and holiness, letting the hope of Christ's return purify your faith and motivate faithful service today.
