The Last Things: Christ's return is the culmination of God's redemptive plan, when Jesus will judge the living and the dead and establish His eternal kingdom.

Overview

Scripture teaches that Christ will physically return to earth to complete redemptive history. This return is personal, bodily, and visible, and will be followed by the resurrection of the dead, final judgment, and the establishment of God's eternal kingdom.

Key Scriptures

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV)

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats." (Matthew 25:31-32, NIV)

"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face." (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV)

Application

Live with readiness and watchfulness, letting the hope of Christ's return motivate holy living and faithful witness today.
