Rhodes

Rhodes was an ancient island in the Mediterranean Sea where the apostle Paul stopped briefly during his third missionary journey. It served as a waypoint on Paul's journey back to Jerusalem.

Overview

Rhodes was a prominent island located off the coast of Asia Minor in the eastern Mediterranean. During his return journey to Jerusalem, the apostle Paul's ship stopped at Rhodes as part of his route home. This brief stop is recorded in Luke's account of Paul's travels and demonstrates the interconnectedness of Mediterranean trade routes and Christian movement in the first century.

Key Scriptures

"When we had parted from them and set sail, we came by a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara" (Acts 21:1, ESV).

This verse marks Paul's passage through Rhodes on his journey toward Jerusalem, where he would eventually be arrested and brought before Roman authorities.

Application

Consider how God orchestrates our journeys and transitions, using ordinary travel and circumstances as part of His sovereign plan for our spiritual growth and service.
