Overview
Kish was a Levite descended from Merari, one of Levi's three sons, and lived during the reign of King David. He is recorded in the genealogical lists that document the Levitical families responsible for the service and care of the tabernacle. His descendants continued in the priestly line of ministry.

"The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish. And Eleazar died having no sons, but only daughters; and their kinsmen, the sons of Kish, took them as wives" (1 Chronicles 23:21, ESV).

Application
Kish's inclusion in the genealogical record reminds us that God values and remembers the faithful service of ordinary believers, even those whose names appear briefly in Scripture.
