Jushab-Hesed

Jushab-Hesed was a son of King David and Bathsheba, listed among David's children born in Jerusalem. He appears briefly in the biblical genealogies with limited historical detail.

Overview

Jushab-Hesed is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 3:20 as one of the sons born to David in Jerusalem during his reign. His name means "kindness returns" or "mercy returns" in Hebrew. Though he held royal lineage as David's son, Scripture provides minimal biographical information about his life or role in Israel's history.

Key Scriptures

"And these were the sons of David born to him in Jerusalem: Shimea, Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, four by Bath-shua the daughter of Ammiel; then Ibhar, Elishama, Eliphelet, Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet, nine. All these were David's sons, besides the sons by his concubines; and Tamar was their sister." (1 Chronicles 3:5-6, NASB). Jushab-Hesed is listed among David's sons in 1 Chronicles 3:20.

Application

Though some biblical figures receive little attention, their inclusion in Scripture reminds us that God's sovereignty encompasses all people, and every life has value in His eternal plan.
