Overview
Scripture teaches that Jesus will return visibly and bodily to complete redemptive history. His return will involve the resurrection of all people, judgment of the living and dead, and the establishment of a new heaven and new earth where God dwells with His people eternally.
Key Scriptures
"Jesus said to them, 'Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.'" (Matthew 19:28, NASB)
"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NASB)
"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV)
