Jemima

Jemima was one of Job's daughters, born after his restoration, symbolizing God's blessing and renewal following seasons of suffering and testing.

Overview

Jemima (meaning "dove") was the firstborn daughter of Job after the Lord restored his fortunes. She is mentioned alongside her sisters Keziah and Keren-Happuch as inheriting equal portions with their brothers, an unusual practice demonstrating Job's godly character and God's favor upon his restored household.

Key Scriptures

"After this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his sons' sons, four generations. And Job died, an old man, and full of days" (Job 42:16, ESV). "He had also seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemima, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch" (Job 42:13-14, NASB).

Application

Jemima reminds us that God's restoration includes not only material blessings but renewed family relationships and legacy, encouraging us to trust Him through seasons of trial knowing He can restore abundantly.
