Overview
Ishbah (or Ishbak in some translations) was one of Abraham's sons born to Keturah after Sarah's death. Though mentioned briefly in Genesis, he represents the many nations that descended from Abraham, fulfilling God's promise that Abraham would be the father of many peoples.
Key Scriptures
"Abraham again took a wife, and her name was Keturah. She bore to him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah." (Genesis 25:1-2, ESV)
"And Abraham gave all he had to Isaac. But to the sons of his concubines Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still living he sent them away from his son Isaac, eastward to the east country." (Genesis 25:5-6, ESV)
Application
Ishbah's existence reminds us that God's faithfulness extends beyond the covenant line, blessing even the descendants outside the promised inheritance, encouraging us to trust God's provision for all areas of our lives.
