Overview
Hierapolis was a significant city in the Lycus Valley of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), approximately 10 miles north of Laodicea. Paul's ministry influenced this region through Epaphroditus and other workers, establishing a vibrant church community there despite Paul's lack of personal visit.
Key Scriptures
"Epaphroditus, my fellow servant...has been a minister to me in my need" (Philippians 2:25, ESV). "And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea" (Colossians 4:16, ESV). "Greet the brothers at Laodicea, and Nympha and the church in her house. And when this letter has been read among you, have it read also in the church of the Laodiceans" (Colossians 4:15-16, NASB).
Application
The Gospel's influence extends through faithful workers and believers who minister in Christ's name, even when direct apostolic presence is absent, encouraging us to trust God's Word and His workers in reaching our communities.
