Hedge

A hedge return refers to God's protective covering and restoration after a season of spiritual vulnerability or loss. It reflects the biblical principle that God restores what has been broken when we return to Him.

Overview

The concept of a hedge return draws from the biblical imagery of God as a protector who places boundaries around His people. When believers experience spiritual loss or feel exposed to enemy attacks, returning to covenant faithfulness invites God's restoration of His protective hedge. This reflects both God's justice in removing protection from the rebellious and His mercy in restoring it to the repentant.

Key Scriptures

"And the Lord said to Satan, 'Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. He still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.'" (Job 2:3, NIV)

"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1, NIV)

"If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored" (Job 22:23, NIV)

Application

Examine areas where you may have drifted from God's Word, and actively return to faithful obedience, trusting that He will restore His protective covering in your life.
