Overview
Hazar-Enan (meaning "village of springs") was a geographical landmark located on the northeastern border of Canaan. The Lord instructed Moses to use this location as one of the boundary markers when dividing the land among the Israelite tribes. Its precise modern location remains uncertain, though it lay in the region east of the Mediterranean coast.
Key Scriptures
"Then your border shall turn from the north to Hazar-enan. This shall be your north border" (Numbers 34:9, ESV).
"And you shall draw your line from Hazar-enan to Shepham" (Numbers 34:10, ESV).
Application
Understanding God's careful definition of Israel's boundaries reminds us that the Lord establishes clear parameters for His people and fulfills His promises with precision and faithfulness.
