Overview
Hazar-Addar was a location in the Negev wilderness that served as a geographical boundary point for the land God promised to Israel. It marked part of the southern border of Canaan, situated between Egypt and the inhabited regions of Israel. This boundary designation appears in God's formal description of the promised land's extent.
Key Scriptures
"Your southern boundary will run from the Wilderness of Zin along the border of Edom. On the east, your southern boundary will start from the tip of the Dead Sea, cross south of the Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and go south of Kadesh-barnea. From there it will go to Hazar-Addar and over to Azmon" (Numbers 34:3-4, HCSB).
"Then your boundary will turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and it shall end at the Sea" (Numbers 34:5, ESV).
