Overview
Goats held significant practical and ceremonial importance in ancient Israel. Beyond providing sustenance and materials for daily life, goat hair was specifically designated by God for the construction of the tabernacle. The references in Exodus 36 describe how skilled craftsmen used goat hair to create protective coverings for the holy structure.
Key Scriptures
"All the women whose hearts stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' hair" (Exodus 35:26, NASB). "They made curtains of goats' hair for a tent over the tabernacle; eleven curtains they made" (Exodus 36:14, ESV). "And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red and a covering of goatskins above that" (Exodus 36:19, ESV).
Application
Just as God used ordinary materials like goat hair to create His holy dwelling place, believers today can offer their everyday talents and resources for God's kingdom work, trusting that He values and uses our simple offerings for His purposes.
