Fort

A fort is a fortified structure built for defense and protection. The Bible references forts in the context of military strategy and as metaphors for God's protective strength.

Overview

Forts served as defensive strongholds in biblical times, constructed to protect cities and armies from enemy attack. The term is also used metaphorically in Scripture to describe God as our fortress and source of spiritual protection and refuge.

Key Scriptures

Deuteronomy 20:19-20 (ESV): "When you besiege a city for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them. You may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field human, that they should be besieged by you? Only the trees that you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down."

2 Samuel 22:2-3 (ESV): "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence."

Application

Trust in God as your ultimate fortress and protection, finding refuge in His strength during life's battles and difficulties.
