First Fruits

First fruits refers to the practice of offering the initial portion of harvests and income to God as an act of worship and acknowledgment of His provision. This practice demonstrates faith, gratitude, and the principle that God deserves the first and best of what we receive.

Overview

In the Old Testament, God commanded Israel to present the first fruits of their harvests as offerings to Him. This practice involved bringing a portion of grain, oil, and wine to the Lord before enjoying the rest of the harvest. First fruits offerings symbolized trust in God's continued provision and acknowledged His ownership over all blessings.

Key Scriptures

"And when you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, and you take possession of it and dwell in it, you shall take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you harvest from your land that the LORD your God is giving you, and you shall put it in a basket." (Deuteronomy 26:1-2, ESV)

"No grain offering that you bring to the LORD shall be made with leaven, for you must not burn any leaven or honey as a food offering to the LORD." (Leviticus 2:11, ESV)

Application

Apply first fruits principles today by prioritizing giving to God from the beginning of your income, demonstrating trust that He will provide for your needs.
