Eubulus

Eubulus was a Christian in Rome who sent greetings to Timothy, demonstrating the faithful presence of believers in the imperial capital during Paul's final imprisonment.

Overview

Eubulus is mentioned only once in Scripture as one of the Christians at Rome who greeted Timothy through Paul's final letter. His brief mention testifies to the spread of the Gospel even in the heart of the Roman Empire and the network of believers supporting Paul during his captivity.

Key Scriptures

"Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers" (2 Timothy 4:21, ESV). This occurs in Paul's closing remarks where he also writes, "At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me" (2 Timothy 4:16-17, ESV).

Application

Like Eubulus, believers today can encourage persecuted or struggling Christians through faithful presence and simple acts of Christian fellowship, knowing that such support reflects Christ's loyalty to His people.
