Overview
Eshcol, meaning "cluster" in Hebrew, was a fertile valley located near Hebron in the Promised Land. When Moses sent twelve spies to scout Canaan, they returned with extraordinary fruit as evidence of the land's abundance. The valley became synonymous with God's provision and the fruitfulness of His promised inheritance.
Key Scriptures
"And they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs" (Numbers 13:23, ESV).
"That place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster that the people of Israel cut down from there" (Numbers 13:24, ESV).
Application
Like the spies who witnessed God's faithfulness in providing abundant fruit, believers should trust in God's promises and share testimonies of His provision with others.
