Overview
Ephes-dammim (meaning "boundary of blood") was a valley between Socoh and Azekah where the Philistine army camped during their conflict with Israel. It was here that the young shepherd David encountered the giant Goliath and trusted God for an impossible victory, showing that faith in the Lord transcends natural ability or military advantage.
Key Scriptures
"Now the Philistines gathered their forces at Aphek, and Israel camped by the spring which is in Jezreel" (1 Samuel 29:1, NASB). "Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward" (1 Samuel 16:13, NASB). "Then David said to the Philistine, 'You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted'" (1 Samuel 17:45, NASB).
Application
Trust God's provision rather than relying on worldly resources when facing impossible circumstances.
