Enos

Enos was the son of Seth and grandson of Adam, whose life exemplified the faith of the antediluvian patriarchs and the continuation of God's covenant line.

Overview

Enos was born to Seth when Seth was 105 years old and lived to be 905 years old. He fathered Cainan and continued the genealogical line from Adam through which God's redemptive plan would unfold. Like the other patriarchs before the flood, Enos represents the faithful remnant who walked with God during humanity's early generations.

Key Scriptures

"When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enos" (Genesis 5:6, ESV). "Seth lived after he fathered Enos 807 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Seth were 912 years, and he died" (Genesis 5:7-8, ESV). "Enos lived 90 years and fathered Cainan. Enos lived after he fathered Cainan 815 years and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enos were 905 years, and he died" (Genesis 5:9-11, ESV).

Application

Enos demonstrates that godly heritage and faith in God's promises are passed down through generations, reminding us of our responsibility to transmit biblical truth to our children and grandchildren.
