Zaham

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Zaham was one of the sons of Rehoboam, the first king of the divided kingdom of Judah. His mother was Mahalath, daughter of Jerimoth and granddaughter of King David, making Zaham a great-great-grandson of David through his father's line. He represents one of the many descendants of David during the period of the divided monarchy.

Key Scriptures

"And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abijah the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse" (2 Chronicles 11:18, KJV). "And he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters. And Rehoboam loved Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and Abigail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse, above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.) And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Mahalath to be chief, to be ruler among his brethren" (2 Chronicles 11:21-22, KJV).

Application

Zaham's brief mention reminds us that God's providence extends to all people, even those recorded only in genealogical lists.
