Reaia

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Reaia (also spelled Reia) appears in the genealogical records of 1 Chronicles as a member of the tribe of Reuben. He was the son of Micah and a descendant of Joel, maintaining the tribal lineage during Israel's history. These genealogies were carefully preserved to document the ancestry and inheritance rights of Israel's tribes.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son, Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son" (1 Chronicles 5:4-5, ESV).

"And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah" (1 Chronicles 5:7, KJV).

Application

The preservation of genealogies reminds us that God values individuals and family heritage, and that accurate records help us understand God's faithfulness in preserving His people through generations.
