Rachal

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Rachal was a city in the Negev region of southern Judah. After David defeated the Amalekites and recovered the spoils they had taken, he distributed portions of the plunder to the elders of Judah and to the inhabitants of various cities, including Rachal. This act of generosity strengthened David's political position and built goodwill among the people of Judah.

Key Scriptures

"David sent some of the spoil to the elders of Judah, to his friends, saying, 'Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the LORD'" (1 Samuel 30:26, ESV).

"To those in Rachal, to those in Jattir, to those in Aroer, to those in Siphmoth, to those in Eshtemoa, to those in Racal, to those in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, to those in the cities of the Kenites" (1 Samuel 30:29, ESV).
