Overview
The Bible consistently warns against partiality, which manifests as favoritism toward the wealthy, powerful, or attractive while neglecting others. God himself shows no partiality (Romans 2:11), and followers of Jesus are called to reflect this impartiality in how they treat others, regardless of social status, wealth, or appearance.
Key Scriptures
"I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality" (1 Timothy 5:21, ESV).
"And his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him" (Genesis 37:4, ESV).
"My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory" (James 2:1, ESV).
Application
Examine your relationships and decisions to ensure you value and serve all people equally, resisting the temptation to favor those of higher status or greater influence.
