Overview

Othniel, the son of Kenaz, rose as Israel's first judge after Joshua's generation. He was known for his courage, wisdom, and devotion to God. When the Israelites fell into sin and were oppressed by Cushan-rishathaim, God raised up Othniel to deliver them, ushering in a period of peace that lasted forty years.
