Overview

Oded was a prophet during the reign of King Pekah of Israel and King Ahaz of Judah. He is remembered for his courageous intervention when the northern kingdom's army captured 200,000 people from Judah. Rather than remaining silent, Oded confronted the victorious soldiers and their leaders, reminding them of God's sovereignty and calling them to act with mercy and justice toward their captives.

Key Scriptures

"Then a prophet of the Lord named Oded was there, who met them as they entered with the army and said to them, 'Because the Lord, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he gave them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches to heaven'" (2 Chronicles 28:9, NIV).

"The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, 'Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin'" (2 Chronicles 15:1, NIV).

Application
