Madon

0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Madon was a royal Canaanite city located in northern Palestine. Its king joined a coalition of northern Canaanite rulers against Joshua and Israel, but was defeated at the Waters of Merom. This victory secured Israel's control of the northern territories promised by God.

Key Scriptures

"So Joshua took all that land: the hill country and all the Negeb and all the land of Goshen and the lowland and the Arabah and the hill country of Israel and its lowland, from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. And he took all their kings and struck them and put them to death" (Joshua 11:16-17, ESV).

"When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph" (Joshua 11:1, ESV).

Application

Trust that God fulfills His promises to those who follow Him faithfully, as He did for Joshua and Israel in possessing their inheritance.
