Maadiah

0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Maadiah (also spelled Moadiah) was among the priestly families who returned from exile in Babylon to Jerusalem. Their return, recorded during Nehemiah's governorship, demonstrates God's preserving grace toward His people and His commitment to restoring proper temple worship according to the Law.

Key Scriptures

"The priests: the descendants of Jedaiah through the line of Jeshua, of Immer, of Pashhur, of Harim, of Meremoth, of Iddo, of Ginnethon, of Abijah, of Miniamin, of Moadiah, of Bilgah" (Nehemiah 12:1-6, NIV).

"And in the days of Joiakim were priests, the heads of fathers' houses: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah" (Nehemiah 12:12, ESV).

Application

Just as God restored the priesthood and worship after exile, believers can trust that God restores and renews our spiritual lives when we return to Him in repentance and faith.
