Overview
Jacinth appears in Scripture as one of the gemstones adorning the foundation of the heavenly city. It is listed among the twelve precious stones representing the twelve apostles and the complete beauty of God's kingdom. The stone's deep blue or purple hue reflects the majesty and splendor of heaven.
Key Scriptures
"The foundations of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst." (Revelation 21:19, NASB)
"And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb." (Revelation 21:23, NASB)
Application
Meditating on heaven's precious stones encourages believers to fix their hope on Christ's return and the eternal glory awaiting those redeemed through the gospel.
