Overview
Jachin was one of two bronze pillars that stood at the entrance of Solomon's Temple, positioned on the right (south) side. Its name signifies God's establishment and strength. Together with Boaz (the left pillar), Jachin framed the temple entrance and symbolized God's power and faithfulness in maintaining His covenant relationship with His people.
Key Scriptures
"Then he set up the pillars in the portico of the temple. When he had set up the right pillar, he called its name Jachin, and when he had set up the left pillar, he called its name Boaz" (2 Chronicles 3:17, ESV).
"He made two pillars of bronze, eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits encircled each pillar" (1 Kings 7:15, NASB).
"The pillars were of bronze; the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, and a bronze capital was upon it; the height of the capital was three cubits" (1 Kings 7:16, ESV).
Application
Trust in God's establishment of His promises—He remains faithful and unchanging, just as the temple's pillars stood as permanent monuments to His covenant.
