0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Jachan is mentioned as a son of Abdiel and descendant of Guni in the genealogical account of the tribe of Gad during David's reign. He appears among the mighty men and heads of fathers' houses in the east side of the Jordan River. His inclusion in Scripture indicates his role as a leader and warrior among God's people.

Key Scriptures

"Jachan, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan" (1 Chronicles 5:12, KJV). "These were the sons of Abdiel the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers" (1 Chronicles 5:15, ESV). "All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel" (1 Chronicles 5:17, NASB).

Application

Jachan's legacy reminds us that faithful leadership in God's community, though sometimes obscure to history, is remembered and valued by the Lord.
