Overview
The return from exile, often called the "Halak return" or restoration, demonstrates God's covenant faithfulness to Israel. After the Babylonian exile, God moved the hearts of Persian kings to permit the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple, fulfilling prophetic promises of restoration and hope.
Key Scriptures
"Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, 'The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah'" (Ezra 1:2, ESV).
"And the people of Israel, the priests and the Levites, gave what they had for the work" (Ezra 2:68, ESV).
"For I am with you, declares the Lord, to save you; I will make a full end of all the nations among which I scattered you, but of you I will not make a full end" (Jeremiah 30:11, ESV).
Application
When facing spiritual exile or distance from God, remember His promise to restore and renew those who return to Him in faith.
