Halah

0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Halah was a region in Assyria where King Sargon II deported Israelites following the conquest of the northern kingdom in 722 BC. This exile marked God's judgment on Israel for persistent idolatry and covenant unfaithfulness despite repeated warnings from His prophets.

Key Scriptures

"The king of Assyria carried the Israelites away to Assyria and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded" (2 Kings 18:11-12, ESV).

"So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day" (2 Kings 17:23, ESV).

Application

Reflect on how God's patient warnings precede judgment, and consider areas where you may be drifting from full obedience to His Word, seeking restoration through repentance.
