Shiphtan

Shiphtan was a leader from the tribe of Ephraim appointed to help divide the land of Canaan among the Israelites. He served as one of the princes responsible for distributing the promised inheritance to God's people.

Overview

Shiphtan was an Ephraimite leader selected by Moses to assist in the allocation of the land of Canaan to the twelve tribes of Israel. As one of the ten princes chosen for this significant task, Shiphtan represented his tribe's interests and helped ensure a fair distribution of the inheritance God had promised to Abraham's descendants.

Key Scriptures

"For the tribe of the children of Ephraim a leader, Shiphtan the son of Michael." (Numbers 34:24, NASB)

"These are the names of the men who shall divide the land among you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun." (Numbers 34:17, ESV)

Application

Shiphtan's role reminds us that God calls faithful leaders to help distribute His blessings fairly among His people, encouraging us to serve with integrity in positions of responsibility.
