Overview
The Sheep Market (also called the Sheep Gate) was located in Jerusalem near the Pool of Bethesda on the north side of the temple. This marketplace was integral to temple worship, as sheep were essential sacrificial animals. The area represented both legitimate religious commerce and the commercialization that sometimes obscured true worship.
