Prisca

Prisca (also called Priscilla) was a faithful Christian woman and wife of Aquila who ministered alongside the apostle Paul, demonstrating the vital role of women in early church leadership and discipleship.

Overview

Prisca was a devoted follower of Christ and missionary companion to her husband Aquila. Together they worked as tentmakers and traveled with the apostle Paul, establishing churches and discipling believers throughout the Mediterranean. Their home became a center for Christian ministry and teaching, exemplifying marital partnership in gospel work.

Key Scriptures

"Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus" (Romans 16:3, ESV). "Greet those who belong to the family of Narcissus, who are in the Lord. Greet Tryphosa and Tryphena, who have labored hard in the Lord" (Romans 16:11-12, ESV). "Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left ill at Miletus" (2 Timothy 4:19, ESV).

Application

Prisca's example challenges believers to use their vocational skills and homes as platforms for kingdom work, recognizing that faithful service in humble circumstances glorifies God and strengthens the church.
