Overview
Merab was Saul's firstborn daughter (1 Samuel 14:49). King Saul initially promised her to David as a reward for his valor in battle, but later gave her to Adriel the Meholathite instead. This broken promise revealed Saul's jealousy and instability, contrasting with David's faithful character.
