Jakim

Jakim (also Joachim) was a priest in the line of Aaron during Israel's temple service. He represents faithful priestly ministry in the biblical record.

Overview

Jakim was one of the heads of the priestly divisions established during David's reign to organize temple worship. He served as a leader among the priests of Aaron, maintaining the sacred duties of the tabernacle and later the temple.

Key Scriptures

"These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the Lord, according to the procedure under Aaron their father, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded him. Of the sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses" (1 Chronicles 24:19-20, NASB). "The twelfth lot fell to Jakim" (1 Chronicles 24:12, ESV).

Application

Jakim's inclusion in the priestly rotation reminds us that faithful service in God's house, no matter how small our role appears, is part of His eternal purposes and should be performed with wholehearted devotion to Him.
