Jahzeel

Jahzeel was a son of Naphtali and founder of a tribal family in Israel, representing God's blessing through the patriarchal line. His name means 'God divides' or 'God apportions,' reflecting God's sovereign distribution of the promised land.

Overview

Jahzeel (also spelled Jahziel) was one of the sons of Naphtali and the father of the Jahzeelite clan (Numbers 26:48). He appears in the genealogical records as part of the twelve tribes of Israel, representing the fulfillment of God's covenant promises to Jacob. His lineage was counted among those who inherited portions of Canaan.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem" (Genesis 46:24, ESV). "From Naphtali, the Jahzeelites: of Jahzeel, the clan of the Jahzeelites" (Numbers 26:48, ESV). "These are the families of Naphtali according to their clans, and those numbered of them were 45,400" (Numbers 26:50, ESV).

Application

Reflect on how God's promises to Abraham were fulfilled through ordinary people and family lines, reminding us that He accomplishes His purposes faithfully across generations.
